Dave’s Hot Chicken set to open in Watertown this spring
WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – A new restaurant is set to spice things up later this year in Watertown. Dave’s Hot Chicken has signed a lease to open its first Watertown location at Towne Center in Spring 2026. The Nashville-style hot chicken chain will occupy a 5,071-square-foot building formerly used by TGI Fridays.

Quilters unite to support hurricane relief efforts in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. — The Community Quilters Market will be held in the Fayetteville Towne Center Atrium on December 6-7 to raise funds for World Central Kitchen and aid hurricane victims in North Carolina and Tennessee. The event was inspired by a radio story about musicians who came together to raise funds for hurricane relief.

Meier’s Creek, the brewery/taproom that took over the former Empire Farm Brewery location in Cazenovia last year, is now looking at a move into the city of Syracuse. Meier’s Creek plans to open a satellite taproom — without its own brewhouse — in the Iron Pier Apartments residential-commercial development at 720 Van Rensselaer St. in the Inner Harbor.

The public is encouraged to drop off personal and self-care care items such as deodorant, body wash, socks, lip balm, hair accessories, nail care items, tissues, combs/brushes and hand/body lotion at one of the 25 local donation drop off points throughout Central New York.

This year’s top event, the human dogsled race, was brought back by popular demand with three different age range categories and with all proceeds benefitting the dog rescue organization.

Human Dogsledding event raises money for Helping Hounds Dog Rescue
On Sunday, a couple hundred people gathered outside the roughly 100-foot lawn of Iron Pier Apartments near the Syracuse Inner Harbor, anticipating the start of the second Winterfest Human Dogsled Race. People converged to the sides of the lawn to watch teams of five people, with four pullers and one rider, race with their own customized sleds.

Inner Harbor Development Project Moving Fast
There has been quite a bit of progress recently on a new development project in Syracuse’s Inner Harbor. COR Development is hoping to have the 180,000 square foot project complete by October. It will include 112 apartment units along with retail shops and restaurants. Leasing for the one and two room apartments is underway, while COR is still looking at options to fill the retail space.
